The past couple of weeks have been amazing here on the Indian River Lagoon.  My family and my fishing partner ( my son ) are still visiting family in Germany so I have dedicated alot of my time visiting different places to fish without a boat.  I have traveled and stopped at many bridges and shorelines throughout the IRL.  Talking to many anglers on the way and watching them catch a variety of quality game fish.  I have to say that the most comfortable place to relax and fish has to be Port's End Park at Cape Canaveral.  It seems to be a nice place to take your kids and just sit and relax under covered picnic areas.  Along highway 528 I stopped to watch anglers catching good numbers of trout, jack and some small redfish.  Another spot that was quite productive was the Pineda Causway along the Indian River side with lots of schooling bait fish readily accessible by your castnets.

This morning on the other hand was quite different.  I was taking my carolina skiff to the Mosquito Lagoon one of my favorite places to fish.  I was joined by my good friend Alex and his son Joe.  Our goal was to just move around on the water showing him a nice place to take his Geenoe. We launched from Eddie Creek and headed WNW to the flats, although we did get a late start and missed most of the quality trout bite we were still able to manage a few using soft plastic baits and live shrimp.  We also found several large schools of tailing redfish on the flats as the sun was coming up and heat was coming out.  There is nothing more beautiful than spotting 20 to 30 tails moving on the flats.

A final note for this month is that we should all remember to clean up after ourselves no matter where we fish or launch from.  Lets work together as responsible anglers and keep our waters and shorelines clean for the next who wishes to enjoy them.
